6 Things to Do at Home During the Pandemic

The covid-19 pandemic has altered our lives in strange ways. The way we work, communicate and go about our daily lives has seen a dramatic shift. In many parts of the world, people are confined to their homes. And for many, being stuck at home is a hard pill to swallow. But the truth is, it doesn’t have to be!

There are numerous things that you can do at home that are not only fun but also productive. From building your expertise to indulging in convivial premixed cocktails, staying at home could prove a boon for you.

  1. Read that book

Books are marvellous ways to explore and lose into different worlds and timelines. You can pick a book from numerous genres according to preference. From fantasy, history and self-help to action, thriller, romance, the options are endless. If you have been putting off your favourite book series, this is the perfect time to start.

Unlike watching a movie or catching up on your list of saved TV series, books have a calming effect on the mind. They can help increase your vocabulary and improve concentration.

  1. Meditate

 It is perhaps the most important of all the things mentioned in this list. Daily meditation has proved to have incredible benefits. It makes us more grounded and enables us to be harmoniously in sync with reality.

To have a good meditation session, select a quiet place, light a scented candle, and play soothing music. Although these are not mandatory, they can help relax the mind and facilitate a productive session.

  1. Reconnect

Life before the pandemic kept it easier for us to remain connected with our friends, colleagues and loved ones. But given the current situation, it is difficult and, in some cases risky, to physically catch up with everybody. But that doesn’t mean we cannot reconnect with them.

Get on a video con-call with your mates during the evening. If you have a busy schedule, choosing your day off might be a better idea. Call your family members and let them know that they are in your thoughts. Extend an ear to a colleague who might be struggling to cope with the situation’s demands.

  1. Exercise

Working out does not necessarily need a subscription of a gym membership. You can do plenty of freehand exercises to keep your body fit, like squats, push-ups, jumping jacks, burpees, etc.

You can also watch YouTube tutorials and participate in timed workout sessions. Most of these sessions specifically focus on fat-burning exercises. Always keep track and strive to avoid any sudden increase in weight.

  1. Chill out

All work and no play may not be a good idea. If you are of legal drinking age, you may indulge in an occasional nightcap with your partner or roommate. Many websites deliver a range of fun premixed cocktails and international spirits brands. Look about and experiment with something new.

If you’re not into alcoholic beverages, unwind with mocktails like cranberry sangria or a chilled glass of apple margarita sans tequila.

  1. Take a free course

There are many free courses online that you can choose from and enrol in. From learning a new language to taking up a new hobby such as knitting or calligraphy, there are tons of options out there.

Take up a good certification course online that corresponds with your domain and increase your expertise. Certification courses usually have a cost. But it is worth the investment if you are looking to take the next step in your career.

Including positive and productive hobbies might not only help you steer past the pandemic blues; but thrive. Set up a daily routine with a list of things that you plan to do and follow that. It will keep you from getting sidetracked.
